British Museum and Priscilla

We both didn’t get out of bed in time for Breakfast. I think this is habit forming lol. Anyway once we got out of bed we investigated to see if there was any hot water today. We were in more luck today then yesterday but still not a great deal of hot water. Can’t wait till we can have a proper shower again.

After we sorted ourselves out we headed off to the British Museum to have a day wondering round and looking at history. The museum was but hard to find from the station. I know it should have been easy but it took us a few minutes to locate the big huge building that is the Museum. Once we found the thing we entered and headed straight for the Egyptian exhibit.

The Museum is well laid out so it wasn’t too hard to find. The only problem is the place is full of school children running round. They all seemed to have questions they had to answer about different things. So if you wanted to see an entombed mummy you almost had to que because the children where in the way. After fighting the children and wondering round for a few hours we decided it was time for lunch and a sit.

We managed to see all the Egyptian things before lunch so after lunch we decided to see if we could get cheap tickets to a show or movie. On the way to the movies we passed the theatre that was showing Priscilla. We both wanted to see this production and it finishes end of December so we thought we would try for cheap tickets. We had tried at Leicester Square the day before to see if anyone had cheap tickets but the cheapest was about £50 each. The theatre box office had some for £26 each and that night. So we decided not to see the movie but see a production instead.

It was still mid-afternoon so we decided to head back to the hostel rest, blog and stuff before heading out for the show.

We decided to have dinner near the theatre instead of round the hostel. That was a mistake! In Leicester Square every pub was full to the brim with people knocking of work and having a drink before going home. There was not a spear table to be found. We ended up at a restaurant called Giraffe. It looked good and we could get a seat so in we went. The food wasn’t brilliant but what do you expect in Soho.  We managed to eat and get out before the show started which is good.

OH MY GOD! The show was just spectacular, amazing, awesome, and fabulous! It really did the movie justice.  The out fits were just right and the music was great. The guys that played the main people were just what they were meant to be. The one that played Adam (Guy Piece) had these wonderful legs that even I could see from the back of the stalls. If you ever get a chance don’t pass it up and go. They managed to rope in the guy that plays Alf Stuart from Home and Away to play the Bill Hunter character. He wasn’t up to the standard of the other guys but what do you expect from someone that has played the same person for the last 20 odd years. The only let down was the kid Ben didn’t have an aussie accent, but I think it would be very hard to find an aussie kid in London or even several for the nights the show is on.

After the show it was time to head home and to bed.
